Policies & Procedures
Registration:
- All students maintain up-to-date registration information and sign a waiver. New students: please arrive 15 minutes early to check-in and prepare for class.
- We require you to sign-up for all classes online. We will be unable to accommodate drop-ins.
- Moxie Mischief Aerial Arts reserves the right to cancel any program due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. The schedule and teachers are subject to change.
- Unless otherwise specified, classes are for students ages 17 and up. However we do offer Private Circus Classes for ages 5-13, and we can set up private classes for any age.
- All classes, privates, & parties are non-refundable, non-transferable, and must be used toward a class that is held on or before the expiration date.
- Cancellations for classes, open studios, and private lessons must be made at least 24 hours in advance to be eligible for a credit to your account.
- If you late cancel within 6 hours of class, you will be charged for that class and will not be refunded your money. **Monthly members will be charged $15.00 every time they late cancel a class or reserve a spot and do not show.
- Registration for workshops is non-refundable.
- In the event of inclement weather, we reserve the right to cancel class (with credit given). That decision will be up to the instructor/studio owner. Please check our Facebook and website for updates.
- All classes (single, memberships and punch cards) are non-refundable, non-transferable, and must be used toward a class that is held on or before the expiration date.
- Safety is paramount. Moxie Mischief Aerial Arts reserves the right to discourage or deny participation of students with certain injuries or health conditions.
- Students are required to have a mat under them each time their feet leave the ground. If an instructor sees a student acting any way the instructor sees as un-safe the student will be asked to stop or even leave the facility. This may include (but not limited to) such things as acting goofy, trying skills beyond the student’s current ability, instructing other students, or working beyond the instructors perceived point of student exhaustion.
- We encourage students to arrive early to warm-up on the floor before your class begins and are welcome to do ground based conditioning after classes. We allow students to enter the gym 30 minutes before and stay 30 minutes after class for this. We allow no unsupervised acrobatic or handstand warmup or conditioning unless you are renting a point. Beginner-level classes include a guided ground warm-up to help you develop this practice.
- Students are only permitted on the apparatus during his/her scheduled class.
- Lateness: students that arrive more than 15 minutes after class begins will not be admitted and will forfeit payment for that class.
- Students must use caution and follow instructions for their own safety, and that of others. Reckless behavior will result in dismissal from class and forfeiture of payment.
- For aerial classes, please wear tight fitting workout clothes that cover the backs of your knees, abdomen, and upper arms.
- Buttons, zippers, and buckles, are not permitted since they may cause damage to the apparatus. Long hair should be tied back.
- Remove all jewelry (including wedding/engagement rings!) before participating in class. Anything that can get caught on yourself, another person, or an apparatus is a danger to you, others, and the equipment.
- MMAA is not responsible for any lost items.
- Equipment should be used only as intended and put away correctly EVERY time it is used
- Return all equipment to the state in which you found it. If you move mats, move them back. Return rosin, therabands, etc., to where they are stored.
- Treat the equipment as if it is your own. Carry or roll mats instead of dragging them. Wear the proper clothing for training (see below). Keep hands and feet as clean as possible. Wear deodorant! The gear will last longer if we all take care of it.
- No chewing gum.
- No street shoes on the mats.
- Keep all water bottles and personal belongings away from the mats. They becoming a tripping hazard if not kept off to the side.
- Please clean up after yourself.
- Students of all ages should be ready, willing and able to follow direction of their instructors.
- A good attitude is a must. Any student who is disruptive or interferes with another student’s learning experience may be asked to leave class without the possibility of a refund
- Be courteous toward others in class and those using the surrounding space. MMAA is meant to be a cooperative, supportive environment in which people can train and learn. It's not a competition.
- For the health of all our students, we ask that students not come to class while sick. Please inform us of an illness as soon as possible so we can offer your space to a student on the waitlist.
- Tape over any cuts or abrasions, even if they seemed closed, to prevent bleeding on the equipment. If you do bleed on something, notify the supervising instructor immediately.
- Students who arrive to class impaired/under the influence of alcohol or drugs (prescription or recreational) will be asked to leave and will not receive a make-up class.
- Please no spray rosin (i.e. Tuf-Skin) on the silks. Rock rosin will be available to use in the studio in lieu of spray rosins. Spray rosin is permitted for use in Duo class.
- You are responsible for your own health and safety.
- There is no student teaching allowed in any MMAA classes.
- Feel free to tell us if you don’t want to do something. We're not in the business of forcing you to do things you don’t want to do. We may try to convince you, but at the end of the day it's your class!
- Keep any negative comments about others to yourself. We have a no tolerance policy for any kind of bullying or negativity towards others. It is best to focus on yourself and your own development anyway.
- Any breaking of the rules for open workout and reckless behavior will result in dismissal from open workout and forfeiture of payment.
- Open workouts provide an opportunity for students to practice the skills they have previously learned in class.
- An instructor will supervise and be available to answer questions, but will not provide new instruction.
- You are responsible for your own health and safety. Make sure to warm-up thoroughly and know your limits.
- There is no student teaching allowed in open workout.
- Any breaking of the rules for open workout and reckless behavior will result in dismissal from open workout and forfeiture of payment.
- Please park and bring your children in to ensure the safety and traffic flow in the parking lot. It is appreciated if you wait with your child (under 10) until their class is called.
- We cannot be responsible for watching children before or after their scheduled classes
- We believe that circus is for everyone but if your child is disrupting the learning environment, we will communicate with you about potential solutions. If a child threatens the safety of others, they will be removed from class.
- The Beginner Trapeze, Beginner Lyra, Beginner Silks, Aerial Yoga and Handstands classes are open to any new student. To be eligible for a higher-level class, students must be able to perform the fitness requirements for each class. Discuss with your instructor the class progress you are interested in.
- The nature of aerial performance is challenging. A mastering of the skills is required to move forward to the next level. To progress to the next level of classes a student must have their instructors permission. A fitness evaluation is developed for each level to allow the students to demonstrate they have mastered the skills.
- Aerial arts is hard and everyone moves at a different pace, and a lack of advancement does not mean you're not learning!
- If you say “I can’t”, than you probably wont! So instead say “I’ll try!”
- The 1st rule of Circus: It hurts. Suck it up, buttercup. Complaining isn’t going to make you any better.
- If you are late to class and miss warm up – 10 climbs
- Anytime you flop your feet on the mat – 5 burpees
- Saying “I can’t” – 3 push ups
- Bailing on a move (constitutes giving up and coming down in an unsafe manner) – 5 burpees
- Bailing on a move 2x – Sit out the rest of time spent on that particular move
- Teaching another student – 15 V-ups
- Being unkind, belittling, negative towards another student - apologize
